Description
Blue Lotus, botanically classified as Nymphaea nouchali var. caerulea (Savigny) is a tropical blue/purple water lily native to Africa. It occurs naturally from Egypt through East and Southern Africa to the Comoros and southern Arabia. It has been cultivated for centuries in still, sunlit waters such as ponds and canals, and is now grown in many parts of the world.
Blue Lotus is one of the most recognizable plants of ancient Egypt, where it was depicted in temple art and associated with the rising sun, renewal, and spiritual consciousness. In traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda and Thai herbalism, it has been used to support relaxation, calmness, and a balanced mood.
