Description
Sananga is a traditional Amazonian plant extract made from the root bark and bark of Tabernaemontana undulata from the Apocynaceae family. The plant material used in this product is sustainably sourced by the Katukina people of the southwestern Amazon, who have long incorporated it into cultural practices related to perception, focus, and spiritual preparation. In these traditions, different strengths, including milder varieties, are sometimes used when first becoming familiar with the plant.
This more modern Sananga formulation is produced using a concentrated 20:1 essence that is diluted into various strengths. Bottles are sterilized during packaging, and refrigeration after opening is recommended to help maintain freshness, as the natural ingredients are sensitive to heat and contamination.
How to use
For the first session the intention is to get to know Sananga; this is where the mild variety comes in. Sananga extract is a potent healing tool originally used by the indigenous people of the Amazon. It has been used to sharpen the senses for hunting, treat physical ailments and improve spiritual sight. Sananga is not for the faint of heart and can cause a temporary painful blinding sensation to the eyes. It is said that combination sananga with breathing techniques can be a powerful way to treat emotional pain as well as prevent ocular problems.
The use of Sananga often involves assistance from another person, who applies one drop to each eye. The experience can be intense and may temporarily affect vision and comfort. Users are typically unable to apply it to their own eyes, as the first drop may make it difficult to administer the second.
