Event Details

Ancient African Yoga (Smai Tawi) refers to the entire spiritual system of self-development created by the sages of Ancient Egypt. The geometric positions and postures seen in the hieroglyphs and temple walls of Ancient Egypt are some of the earliest manifestations of yoga. Its a healing and regenerative Yoga system, characterized by a series of body postures combined with controlled deep breathing and meditation.

In this workshop we will cover the Ancient Kemetic postures along with breathwork and meditation techniques that enhance one practice and daily lifestyle.

We breathe slow and controlled as we flow from one posture into the other. This stimulates the Parasympathetic aspect of the Central Nervous System and brings on physiological and chemical changes to support practice. We connect the inhalation and exhalation with the motion of the body. Our intention is not just to stretch the muscles or strengthen the body but also to move energy very precisely. Resistance will release from the body and resistance will release from the mind. In this relaxed state there is rejuvenation and there is healing on all levels (Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual).

Please wear something comfortable and bring your yoga mat.

Bless,
