PRACTICALLY EXPLAINED:

The 75min. class is music-driven and consists of the following:

• HIGH INTENSITY MOVEMENT
What?
15min of perpetual bodyweight sets of movement on upbeat music. Think jumping jacks, burpees, hopping & dancing around. We use the breath and sound of voice (only if you want too) to shake up the energy and release mental/emotional stagnations (sluggishness, frustration, stress, … you name it) out of the body-heart-mind. Simulteneously, we’re building a strong resilient body while becoming proficient at life itself and building nervous system tolerance.

Why?
To create chaos in the physical body. When we move, everything moves. Meaning that we trigger ourselves through movement, stirring ourselves up & stepping outside our realm of “normal”. We enter the chaos & move right through resistance and struggle. Basically meeting ourselves from the inside out. While we move, we also explore thought activities that come up. In between songs, we take moments of active recovery. Connecting to the sensations. Assessing/ absorbing. We are taking out a couple of those layers that stop us from moving forward. Cleaning our emotional home, making it a nice place to live in.

The impact?
Reset of your state of being/feeling
Mental clearing
Emotional (stress) release
Psychological relief
Letting down your guard
Experiencing authenticity
Recognising that you have a choice
(Re)igniting the inner-spark
Strong resilient body

Second part of the class:
• TAKING REST (rest of class)
What?
We take rest. We allow the body to reset. Letting the molecules of the body find their natural alignment. Yin yoga shapes, slow breathing exercises & meditation/yoga nidra support this process.

Why?
To let the body come back to homeostasis. This is the way for the nervous system to come back to balance, trusting the body to do the work. We are so used to toxic rushing, wanting to go to the next,… By resting, we reprogram the neurological pathways in the brain and give ourselves permission to stay in the body. We feel the sensations and meet ourselves as we are in relationship to the world around us. Doing nothing and slipping into the “being mode” is probably the biggest practice of all. We need more of that; to rest more.

Impact?
Rearrangement of our whole self
Embracing vulnerability
Increasing sensory awareness
Increasing sense of self-agency
Self-regulation

STRESS RELEASE CYCLE:
I studied the stress release cycle by Dr. Scott Lyons, which forms the framework for my classes. We directly engage with stress and sensations within us (mental, physical & emotional in nature). We move it around and release old energy out. Showing up for ourselves. Beginning again. For that to happen, both moving and resting are necessary.

All in all, it’s a sustainable way of dealing with day to day stress and discomfort, which we usually don’t want to feel and push aside. Contrast is needed to move forward. So, we deal with challenges and problems and use it as food for growth. Moving with the changing streams is necessary to live an authentic/honest life.

See this practice as a way to “re-tool” yourself emotionally, mentally and physically, allowing you to navigate life more fluidly while entering the conversation with yourself☺️

Love,
Julie
