Description
Muira Puama or Ptychopetalum olacoides, is a small tree native to the Amazone and other parts of South America. Often called “potency wood,” Muira Puama has been traditionally used by indigenous communities for centuries. The tree belongs to the Olacaceae family and is known for its small, white, jasmine-scented flowers.
Both the bark and the root are used, as they naturally contain a range of bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, fatty acids, essential oils, and plant sterols.
In herbal use, Muira Puama is valued as a botanical tonic, traditionally associated with supporting vitality, libido, and mental resilience, and is often used in periods of stress, fatigue, or reduced energy.
